Job Summary

The SBCC Coordinator will play a key role in implementing and supporting community-level behaviour change efforts under the AAWAZ II Programme in Sindh. Based in Islamabad, with frequent travel to five districts, the role involves coordinating the rollout of SBCC interventions—ranging from storytelling events to murals and radio programs—aligned with CARE Pakistan’s mission to address violence against women and girls, social exclusion, and child marriage.

The Coordinator will work closely with local partners, Aagahi Change Agents, and communities, facilitating sessions using participatory methods like, Social Analysis and Action, and intergenerational dialogues. A strong focus will be placed on locally relevant, inclusive messaging in Urdu, Sindhi, and other languages, with responsibilities extending to capacity building of youth volunteers and partners in SBCC tools and digital storytelling.

The position also ensures adherence to branding, safeguarding, and consent protocols, in line with CARE and FCDO standards. The Coordinator will document field activities, collect qualitative insights, and contribute to reports, case studies, and learning products. 

Job Responsibilities and Tasks 

1- Programme Support and Implementation: (30% of time)

- Support rollout of SBCC interventions across five programme districts.
- Coordinate implementation of campaigns and activities such as theatre performances, storytelling circles, radio programmes, murals, father-daughter events, and social media content.
- Liaise with local implementing partners and Aagahi Change Agents to ensure timely execution of SBCC activities.

2- Community Engagement: (30% of time)

- Facilitate community sessions using participatory approaches including, Social Analysis and Action (SAA), and intergenerational dialogues.
- Support community-driven identification of influencers, storytellers, and forum participants.
- Assist in developing locally relevant SBCC messages in Urdu, Sindhi, and other relevant languages.

3- Capacity Building: (10% of time)

- Support training sessions for local partners, Aagahi Centre staff, and youth volunteers on SBCC tools, inclusive messaging, and digital content creation.
- Provide technical assistance during workshops and events at UC, taluka, and district levels.

4- Branding, Consent, Compliance, Monitoring and Documentation: (25% of time)

- Ensure visibility and branding guidelines from CARE and FCDO are followed in all communication materials and field activities branding.
- Ensure appropriate informed consent protocols are followed for photography, video, and digital storytelling, in line with CARE’s safeguarding and communications standards.
- Collect qualitative data including quotes, photos, and stories from the field for reporting and learning.
- Maintain documentation of SBCC activities including attendance, consent forms, and community feedback.
- Submit regular progress reports and contribute to case studies, learning briefs, and donor reports.

5- Other responsibilities as assigned: (05% of time)

  • Any other tasks or responsibilities based on organizational and programming needs as assigned by the Line Manager.

 A) Qualifications (Know How)

- Bachelor's or masters degree in Communications, Development Studies, Media, or related field.

B) Experience/ Technical Skills 

- Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in development communications, SBCC, or rights-based campaigns.

- Experience in of creating and publishing content related to VAWG, CEFM and protection overseeing office communication activities, brainstorming ideas and developing publications and digital creative assets.

- Preferably experience in designing IEC materials and content focused on climate adaptation, resilience, and environmental sustainability.
- Field experience working with communities, especially on VAWG, inclusion, or protection themes.
- Strong facilitation and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple implementing partners and timelines.

- Candidates with proficiency in writing, reading and speaking English, Urdu, and Sindhi will be preferrable.
- Experience with participatory approaches and digital content development is a strong asset.
- Experience in Adobe Suite, Canva and designing, and video editing.
